Clinic News
New Doctors
Dr Kirsta Craig has commenced consulting full time at our Strathalbyn branch. An experienced GP originally from the United States, she has most recently been working in Mt Gambier. She has moved to Strathalbyn with her family and is keen to establish a long term practice in the town. Her full profile will be available shortly.
Influenza Vaccination 2012
We are expecting 2012 Influenza Vaccinations to become available from mid March. Please advise the clinic reception if you would like to have your influenza vaccination at one of our designated "flu vaccine clinics". The consultation would generally be bulk billed to medicare and will be run by a designated clinic doctor and nurse. These clinics will run from both Mt Barker and Strathalbyn branches while there is demand.
For patients eligible to receive a government funded vaccination (chronic illness, over 65 years of age, pregnancy), the vaccine is provided free of charge. For other patients a fee applies to purchase the vaccination from the clinic. Alternatively make a normal appointment with your own doctor for a checkup, and if stock is available the influenza vaccination can be given at the time (this would attract a normal consultation fee).
4 year old healthy kids check
We are now performing formal health checks (known as "healthy kids check") for 4 year olds around the time of their vaccination - this can occur from 3.5 years old and up to 6 years old. The child and parent initially will spend time with a trained practice nurse, then have an appointment with their normal doctor afterwards for further examination and discussion of any abnormal findings. If appropriate, immunisation can occur at the same visit. This assessment and immunisation is generally bulk billed to medicare. Please advise reception staff if you would like to make an appointment for your child to have one of these health assessments, so adequate time can be allocated.

We are pleased to launch our new Mt Barker Medical Clinic website. The information on the website is relevant for both the Mt Barker and Strathalbyn branches, which are linked.
